ICE receives AED Life Saver Award from the Alameda County EMS
December 6, 2006 Mike Capbarat, a junior at UC Berkeley and a member of the baseball team was walking to class when he noticed an elderly gentleman collapse to the ground. The man was former chancellor and professor emeritus Albert Bowker. Mike speed dialed the athletic department to mobilize their AED. Two graduate students Athena Perry and Stephanie Green began CPR. Brian Schulman, Barry Parsons and Ann Caslin of the athletic departmen arrive with the AED. Shocks were delivered. Other responders include UC Berkeley Police. Officer Hatcher Parnell and members of the Berkeley Fire Department. The patient was transported to Altra Bates breathing and with a pulse. Pam Isom Trainer of the UC Berkeley police department CPR/AED program was also recognized.
